Customers ask on a regular basis - "Where do you find all of your materials?" The short answer is, "I am a vigilant thrifter!"
The long answer is that I source my materials from a variety of places - thrift stores, consignment stores, garage sales, radio ads, etsy, ebay, and by word of mouth. Living in a small community is great - it means that lots of people know what I do and will often leave a bag or even large box of goodies to repurpose right outside my studio door. I've even had customers come to my booth at an event and hand me a bag of sweaters or pull one out of their purse because their dog seems to have an affinity for cashmere - nom, nom!
The items I repurpose are many:
Wool - sweaters, scarves, blankets
Vintage fabric - table cloths, dresser scarves, hankies, towels, aprons, anything embroidered, chenille blankets, hammocks, bedspreads
Needlepoint pillows, pictures, chair seats
Belts - both leather and twill
Vintage planters - I have a HUGE collection of these!
Jewelry - earrings, necklaces, brooches, stick pins
Paper goods - I can't help purchasing vintage games for the cute game pieces!
Tray puzzles - I make them into magnets
If you think you might have something I could use, don't hesitate to pop me an email!
